CoCo’s Restaurant
Rooftop Bar Training

CoCo’s Restaurant opened their outdoor patio, and with the fast approaching summer season wanted to ramp up their bartender onboarding experience.

The design team identified several performance issues including wait time and “adequate” service. We plotted out a branching scenario to educate bartenders on how to speed up service, give a quality experience, and make informed recommendations on beer selection.

While the initial design for the branching scenario was collaborative, each member had to develop their own version of the final course.

Miro Storyboarding

Our team used Miro to visually plot out all the branching paths of the bartender training. We highlighted the different options as meeting, partially meeting, and not meeting goals.

Branching Scenario

Taking the intial design for the scenario, I built the e-learning experience with all the different paths and multiple endings. The learner was meant to learn from feedback given by the customer(s).

Individual Development

The branching scenario was built as an e-learning course and included the following:

  • Scenario-based training from the point of view of a bartender

  • Multiple levels of interactions with customer characters including several choices to make, each impacting further interactions

  • Training on providing quick, quality service while both being a resource for beer selection and not wasting any product

Takeaways

Our team was able to make use of a visual organization tool to storyboard a complex series of interactions. Our scenario was built to meet the established goals of the training and the requirements of the client.

In the solo development phase of this project I got to exercise my creativity in the creation of the ecourse. I also got practice with developing projects that were created through collaborative design teams.
